The Performing Arts Center (PAC) of the Noor Al Hussein Foundation was established in 1987 to develop an understanding and awareness of the value of the arts in the educational process promoting social development issues and to enhance the theater and dance movements in Jordan. The PAC is considered to be a unique institution that produces innovative drama, theater and dance programs that offer children, youth, men and women the opportunity to develop their talents in the performing arts field and to explore issues related to a better quality of life, as well as the ability to express their needs and aspirations freely and creatively. Our mission is to serve as a national resource and a regional model for incorporating the performing arts in all levels of education and to make culture an art accessible to all. The PAC building has a multipurpose hall, two dance halls, three training halls for drama and houses 22 professional employees.

Objectives
  • To provide sustainable services for beneficiaries on national and regional levels promoting cross-cultural understanding, cooperation and a global cultural for peace.
  • To support and develop the art movement in Jordan and in the Arab region for both children and adults.
  • To develop and train young people’s talents in creativity in the field of the performing arts.
  • To develop an understanding and awareness of the value of the arts in the educational process.
  • To provide innovative and effective art programs and curricula for a variety of school settings.
  • To train elementary school teachers in the Drama-in-Education program as an effective method of teaching in the classroom with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education.
  • To teach conflict resolution skills to children and youth.
  • To raise awareness among people on Human and children’s rights

    Lina Attel / Director General

Founder and the Director General of The Performing Arts Center (PAC) of The Noor Al Hussein Foundation in Jordan, since 1987. Recognized for her pioneering role in introducing drama into mainstream education in Jordan, workshop leader who has trained thousands of school teachers and theatre artists throughout the Arab world.

Published articles and research papers on Theatre in Education, methodology and practice, for local, regional and international organizations.
Deeply involved in promoting issues related to democracy and human rights for youth and women, through multimedia programs.
Educated in Jordan, Pakistan and later in Britain where she gained her M.A degree in Theater in Education. Lina Attel has extensive experience in theatre and the arts as director, actress and educator. She has received many prizes and awards amongst them ;

The international prize “Grozdanin Kikot” for the Contribution to the Development of Drama Education from The Mostar Youth Theater - Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2000, “Al Hussein Medal for Distinction of the First Order for distinguished achievement in the field of theatre- Jordan, 2000. Member of The Advisory Committee of the Hague Appeal for Peace, Global Campaign for Peace Education and The International Association of Theater for Children and Young people (ASSITEJ).

 

     Rania Kamhawi

Deputy Director / Director of Dance Department 

Deputy director of The Performing Arts center of The Noor Al Hussein Foundation and  Director of the dance department. She has choreographed various works from the classical ballet repertoire in addition to original works such as Solitude to Um Kulthoum’s Inta Omri, Winds of Change & Unveiling the secrets of the Dead Sea. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 1998 where she was a resident scholar at the University of South Dakota, teaching dance technique and lecturing on the culture of the Arab world.

Ms. Rania Kamhawi. Ms. Kamhawi (RAD RTS) is a professional choreographer, a graduate of The Royal Academy of Dance, UK, an associate of The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, a full member of The British Ballet Organization and a Fulbright scholar. She is assisted by Ms. Svetlana Tahboub, a graduate of the Ukrainian National Dance Academy, and Ms. Randi Abdin, a graduate of the Laban Dance Center, UK.

  • The Jordanian Ministry of Culture for the PAC's role in the development of the theater movement in Jordan. 1994.

  • The Cairo International Radio and Television Festival, the silver award for the musical play " Madinat Assawsana . Egypt, 1997.
