The National Theater-in-Education
Troupe
Established in 1989, The National Theater-in-Education
Troupe comprises of seven actors, a playwright and two directors. The troupe
produces plays that deal with contemporary issues related to comprehensive
socio-economic development utilizing the interactive theater methodology which
engages young people and adults feelingly with the subject matter through their
active interaction with the actors in role within the drama.
The troupe tours extensively in Jordan and participates in
local, regional and international festivals with productions of interactive
theater, puppet shows and musicals.
Major productions include: Time Impressions, Gadara, Journey to Kanafeesh,
The Moment, A Drop of Water, Intergenerational Dialogue, Memoirs of a Woman,
Unemployment & the Culture of Shame, Child Labor & Humanity.
go. Musicals in cooperation with the Dance Department: Madinat Assawsana,
Kind Chemo, The Wizard of Oz & Stars.
Theater Arts School
Founded in 1997, the Theater Arts
Training Program adopts the curriculum of John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts, Washington and is accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of
Education. The program provides professional training for children and
youth in acting, directing, improvisation, creative writing, mime, creative
movement, voice and speech, puppetry and theater design.
Major theater productions performed by the students are:Stars,The Elephant O
King, Excerpts from Shakespeare's plays, Nawader Juha & Live Broadcast.
Time and place
Classes are held twice a week (Sunday
& Wednesday) from 4:30-6:00 for 1 academic year. Students can enroll
starting at the age of 6 and above (Map attached). |
